Prostream Group has successfully completed a contract for the replacement of street lighting in 27 settlements, including the installation of 1,133 new LED luminaires with a power rating of 30 W each.
The project was funded under the Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Energy Security Programme of the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014–2021, procedure BGENERGY-2.001 “Rehabilitation and Modernization of Municipal Infrastructure – Outdoor Public Lighting Systems.”
Project Objectives
- Improving energy efficiency:
- LED luminaires consume significantly less energy compared to the existing sodium lamps.
- Cost reduction:
- Energy savings will allow municipalities to reinvest funds into other important projects.
- Increased safety:
- Improved lighting contributes to a safer environment for both pedestrians and drivers.
Implementation Details
The existing street lighting system with sodium lamps was replaced with energy-efficient LED solutions, along with the partial replacement of street poles. The activities were carried out in stages, covering different sections of the street network across the settlements.
Why LED Lighting?
- Energy Efficiency
LED luminaires consume up to 90% less energy compared to high-pressure sodium lamps. This significantly reduces electricity costs and enables municipalities to save resources that can be reinvested in other key initiatives.
- Long Service Life
LED luminaires have a much longer lifespan, typically between 35,000 and 50,000 hours, compared to sodium lamps, which often require more frequent replacement. This reduces maintenance needs and further lowers operational costs.
- Better Light Quality
LED lighting provides higher brightness and improved visibility, increasing safety for pedestrians and drivers. LED luminaires do not emit ultraviolet radiation, which helps prevent harmful effects on human vision.
- Reduced Carbon Footprint
By switching to LED technology, municipalities can significantly reduce carbon emissions, contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development.
- Lower Maintenance Costs
LED luminaires require less maintenance and are less prone to failure, which reduces servicing and replacement costs.
Prostream Group continues to demonstrate its capabilities as a reliable partner, highlighting the importance of innovation and sustainable solutions that meet the needs of municipalities and improve the quality of life for citizens.
